Meet the Maker Monday!

We are so thrilled to be adding a new facet to our blog! One of the biggest things we love about the world of junk is how many unique and wonderful small business owners we get to know. We have so many incredible vendors in the Rebel Junk family, and we want you to meet them!

For our very first Meet the Maker Monday, we would like to introduce you to Maizy of Maizy Bird Apothecaries & The Best Nest. I met Maizy last summer, and let me tell you, friends: she is one of those people who sort of dances into your life and just makes it a little brighter. You can’t help but fall in love with her, and with her lovely business.

Boasting handmade, luxurious body and spa products, Maizybird Apothecary is more than aptly named. Seriously, her massage balm will leave you in a state of aromatherapy bliss! Adding in products like heavenly lip balms and her ageless face cream, Maizy will have you covered from head to toe.

As if that weren’t enough, this pink-haired maven ups the game with her made-over furniture and home accoutrements. The Best Nest (ummmm hello, adorable name!) is full of beautifully painted pieces that will give your home that vintage vibe in sweet farmhouse style. For real though, look at this entertainment-center-turned-play-kitchen! Could you swoon?!

I asked Maizy a few questions to help you get to know her better, and I think you’ll agree with me when I say, she is just about the most lovable person out there!

Rebel Junk: How would you describe your personal vendor style?

Maizy: Nest-like.

RJ: What got you started in the traveling market world?

M: My inept ability and utter disdain for technology-driven sales.

RJ: What is your most treasured flea market find?

M: Aluminum and glass WORKING stovetop percolator. Her name is Gertrude. (oh, DROOL!)

RJ: What is your favorite item to make or makeover?

M: Massage balm for the makey, old dressers for the changey.

RJ: What is one food you wouldn’t want to live without?
M: Cheese on cheese on cheese.

RJ: What is one thing that makes you absolutely unique?

M: I’m a pink-haired, retired naked-person-effleurager-turned-mad-scientist-demolition-mama-extraordinaire… I believe I’m in a class of my own!

RJ: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

M: Back to Germany.

RJ: Who is your “person”?

M: Rusty.

RJ: Describe your business in five words or less.

M: Lotions, Potions, and Household Notions.

RJ: If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

M: Woman in Love by Barbra Streisand. Because I am in love with everything and everyone, and I do damn near everything to get you into my world. The end.
